USING THE WOUND-ROTOR MOTOR
1. Make sure that the circuit breaker for the motor and the main AC circuit breaker are both on the OFF position.
2. Make the connections shown in figure 1 using the fixed 208v-3Æ supply as the source. The motor is operated with the wound rotor controller (WRSX-300). Make sure that the controller is rotated fully counter-clockwise.
3. “Turn ON” the main AC breaker and then the motors breaker, the latter to start the motor.
4. As the motor speed increases, reduce the external resistance of the motor by turning the controller knob of the WRSC-300 counter-clockwise. The wound rotor controller, in this case, only involves a rheostat which can be used to vary the motors speed-torque characteristics.
NOTE: The configuration shown in figure 1 includes delta-connected stator windings.
